What is the Kent Orienteering League (KOL)
The KOL was introduced for the 2007/08 season, and is run by the Saxons and DFOK clubs and replaces the popular Saturdays Series League. The League provides a series of friendly, fun orienteering events on Saturdays in Kent and South East London aimed at families, experienced orienteers and complete beginners.

What equipment do you need?
Nothing special. Old trainers if it looks muddy, something waterproof if wet. A compass is useful but not essential. Full leg cover rather than shorts for the woodland events and, of course, a watch is very useful to check your time out on the course.

The Event:
Kent Orienteering League events have a range of courses to suit all abilities including newcomers with no experience. All necessary equipment can be loaned to you at the event. You do not have to be a member of an orienteering club.

Help for beginners: The Yellow Course is suitable for complete beginners with no experience. DFOK club members will be available to help you. If you have any questions before the event please email newcomers@dfok.co.uk

Schools Cups: There are 2 School Cups, one for the best Primary School and one for the best Secondary School. The top 2 competitors from each school score points towards the School Cups. All School Cup results and updated school league tables will be made available here shortly following the event.

COURSES:

BLUE (A)

6kms and as technical as the terrain allows

Lt GREEN (B)

4kms, intermediate difficulty intended for progressing orienteers but challenging enough not to disappoint those experienced orienteers  who require a shorter course than A.

ORANGE (C)

3kms, easy allowing for progression from course D

YELLOW (D)

2kms and easy, all on paths
