Orienteering Events Exceed Expectations

Orienteering a hit with Bexley schools

Families in the Bexley area are being offered the chance to try out orienteering through a series of four events taking place in the area during October and November. The events, which are aimed specifically at newcomers to the sport, got underway at Hall Place last weekend and will continue on Saturday 17th at Danson Park.

Dartford Orienteering Klubb has teamed up with Bexley School Sports Partnership and Sport England to host the series. Jody Specht, spokesperson for the Bexley School Sports Partnership commented “The first event was a big success with several local schools represented including Woodside School, Uplands Primary and Townley Grammar.”

Dartford OK Chairman, Andrew Evans added “Orienteering is a great family sport for all ages and abilities. It is ideal for those that enjoy walking, jogging or running and like the idea of adding a navigational challenge to their activity. We are delighted that so many families attended the first event and look forward to welcoming many more at the remaining events.

The series continues with the next two orienteering events taking place at Danson Park on 17thand 31st of October with the final one on the 14th November in Foots Cray Meadow.
